Abstract

The inorganic click (iClick) reaction between PEt3AuN3 and various triethylgold diacetylides generate oligomers through aurophilic self-assembly. Gold oligomers were synthesized from gold diacetylides with blue (2,7-diethynyl-9,9-ocyl fluorene), green (2,1,3-benzothiadiazole), and red (4,7-di(thiophen-2-yl)-2,1,3- benzothiadiazole) chromophores and PEt3AuN3. The formed oligomers are in a dynamic state because the aurophilic interaction is reversible.  By varying the ratios of oligomers in solution the emission color can be tuned.
